Wind in the Willows has a unique setting; 3 acres bordered by the River Misbourne on one side and its millstream on the other, and with what was once a commercial watercress bed meandering through it and creating an island of mature woods, now a woodland garden. This is approached from the more formal garden area around the house by way of a red “Monet” style bridge and, beyond the woodland, another bridge leads to the wild garden. Marginals line the rivers and the garden contains hundreds of shrubs and trees, many uncommon or variegated, under planted with damp/shade loving plants. By the opening many of the rhododendrons, camellias, magnolias, tree peonies, early iris, candelabra primula and late bulbs should be in flower.
