Mayor of Marlow adopts TVACAA as Chosen Charity!

Our team were once again invited to fundraise at the annual Marlow Town Regatta on Saturday 14th June and were overjoyed when the Mayor of Marlow, Cllr Suzanne Brown, announced that the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance would be one of her chosen charities during her tenure as Mayor of Marlow.

Now in her second term in office, Mayor Brown utilised the Marlow Regatta to surprise both the TVACAA and also the Marlow Opportunity Playgroup so that they would both be present when the announcement was made.

While both charities are very close to heart, the TVACAA in particular was chosen for mayoral fundraising when Mayor Brown witnessed first-hand the lifesaving work of the air ambulance. Her friend and town resident, Susan Theobald, was airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision earlier this year.

Major Brown said: “The Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance are always on hand to support us in Marlow, especially with the Regatta and other events if things go wrong. Also, they helped my post lady when she was in an accident on Little Marlow Road so it is a personal thing for me.”

“I chose Marlow Opportunity Playgroup because they provide the only child care of its kind in the whole of the south East of England. They need £35,000 a year to keep it running and if they want to look after more children, they need more money than that. It too is very important!”

Mayor Brown’s first fundraising event will be the ‘BBO Big Band Summer Bash’ which will take place on Saturday 5th July 7:30pm. The BBO Big Band is a Marlow-based big band swing music ensemble, which has raised over £330,000 for various causes since forming in 1986.
